Parties on Fuerteventura if you love the sun

The sunny spanish island Fuerteventura is the meeting point of Spain and South America. You will love it when you go to parties. This little canarian island in front of the Maroccan coast has it all: glassy waves, lots of side-shore, powerful wind, tubes and surf babes !

An Australian surfer once told me “ Fuerteventura means mega windsurf-conditions in summer time, world-class waves in wintertime” !

Add to this a no-stress sweet Maria  atmosphere, and you know why a lot of famous surfing stars live and train on this island. A cool African-Latino vibe within European borders. This means easy customs, comfort, luxury and excellent social and medical services.

First time I went surfing in Fuerte, I really thought I discovered a secret training camp for top-class surfers. And no trouble with locals: every body was nice, cool and mega open.

 Every year there are also surf-camps sponsored by Billabong, O’Neill, Reef, Quicksilver and Rip Curl.

One day I even met surfing legend Robbie Naish in the local supermarket !

A famous poet banned for many years on Fuerteventura, once wrote ‘Fuerteventura, an oasis in the desert of civilisation’. 

I landed on Fuerteventura, burn-out and overstressed of working. I decided to relax and forget everything for a while….

 

And soon I discovered the deeper value of his words : nothing gives you everything.

 The most African looking island of Europe became my soul mate.

I strolled every day around on the sunny, deserted white beaches, thought about my life, the world.

  At sunset-time I swam in the roaring sea, surrounded by  red glistering volcanoes , in the background the sound of fishermen ships heading to the little port.

 

For the first time in my life, I noticed a real sensation of harmony and peace,

no more stress.  The island was the best cure for my pain.

 

After some time, I discovered I was not the only one.

During a barbecue on the beach,  I met those soul mates I was searching already my whole life for.

They all had a history of inner searching: yoga, tantra, tai-chi, nature-healing, …and they all washed upon  the moonlike volcanic island by a secret power.

I realised that if a  person  goes slower, he always goes faster. Every year on the island was like five years in another place…
